Skip
Yesterday Talitha was a little off. Then last night she had the far off look in her eyes. I set an alarm and checked on her every few hours. At about 6:00 this morning I went to the barn and Talitha was having steady contractions. I stayed with her and at about 8:20 she started pushing. She pushed and pushed and around 9:30 a giant buckling came! She licked the sack before his hooves had even come out! The buckling, Skip, stood and nursed pretty soon after birth. He is 3/4 Nubian and 1/4 Alpine. His sire is either Parks Oasis Bijou, or Tucker. Both are full Nubian. Tucker’s sire is Parks Oasis Rocky Balboa. Skip’s dam is Beulah Valley Talitha. Talitha is an Albian. (1/2 Nubian and 1/2 Alpine) We will probably wether Skip and sell him for $75.
Baby Goat Update
Unfortunately Jazz was really small and weak and he didn’t make it. Cyrus and Cadence are doing great!
Twins!
All the goats looked great this morning, but when we got home Gloria had twins! They were wet and chilled. We warmed them and Gloria cleaned and nursed them. They are a little weak. She had a doeling and buckling. They are named Jazz and Cadence. Jazz is the black buckling with a big star. He will be available by mid April for $200. Cadence is the brown doeling.
Lily’s Kid
This morning when I went to the barn Lily had a 4 inch drip. She started having contractions around 11:00. Then at 3:15ish she pushed and a kid started to come. She pushed hard. The kid was in the sack. She saw him and licked her little buckling. He stood up and nursed fast. He is very strong! He is gorgeous and is 13in tall. “Cyrus” is 17in long. His sire is probably Parks Oasis Bijou or Tucker, Tucker’s sire is Parks Oasis Rocky Balboa. Cyrus will probably be available mid April. He will be $200.
Rehoming Barn Cats
We are rehoming three, eight month old females and two, one year old male cats. All have been handled by children. They are all solid black. A few are friendly and a few are very illusive. They are great mousers (gophers mostly). We are asking a $10 rehoming fee.
