In March of 2016, we bought a small herd of four Nubian does. The herd contained Luna, Alannah, Gloria, and Sage. Luna had given birth to Sage just two weeks before. Alannah and Gloria were both due the kid soon. Gloria kidded on march 14th to a single buckling. The buckling was weak and sadly, he didn’t make it. Alannah kidded on May 3rd. Her kids were Lily and Ruby. That summer we won Hazel at the fair. Hazel was only five months old. So we started with four and grew to seven.
Then we had a nice Alpine buck to breed Hazel and he ended up breeding Hazel, Gloria, Lily, and Alannah. Luna was bred by a Nubian buck. That year Luna gave birth to Tucker and Chewy. Hazel had one huge doeling, Dolly. Then Gloria had triplet does. There names are Brooklyn, Juniper, and Maizy.
Lily had Talitha and Cosmo. Talitha’s birth story is a funny one. So, it was a nice day and the goats were grazing peacefully (for the most part). We knew Lily was going to kid soon, so we constantly checked on her. Then when I went to check on her I found her under the deck pushing! The kid was already half way out. We delivered Talitha under the deck, then moved them safely into the barn where Lily gave birth to Cosmo.
About a month later, Alannah had Kuzco and Taffy. So that year we grew to seventeen goats.
That Fall we bought Guffey. Guffey bred Gloria, Lily, Ruby, and Sage. Hazel was bred by an Alpine buck. We sold a few goats.
Then we come to this year. Ruby had Rio and Jordan, Hazel had Moses and Tzipporah, Gloria miscarried, and Sage had little April. We sold a few more goats. Now we have fourteen wonderful goats.
And that is our herd and how it grew. (For now)
